Public Health

The Action Programme Committee on Public Health, led by the Public Health Division (PHD) of National Environment Agency (NEA), was formed with the objective of formulating action programmes to achieve the SGP2012 targets for Public Health; including community partnership and innovation relevant to public health.

The Committee has formulated 13 action programmes under 3 main thrusts with emphasis in the areas of disease surveillance, prevention and outbreak control.

Ownership through improved hygiene habits and practices
  • Rally the support of all Singaporeans through the Singapore's OK Programme to attain a higher standard of environmental hygiene.

Monitor vector-borne diseases
  • Have good surveillance system to detect and track existing and emerging vector-borne diseases.
  • Step-up national preparedness against international health problems.
 
3
Manage vector-borne diseases
  • Establish efficient response systems to quickly warn the public and disseminate information to them on potential disease outbreaks.
  • Leverage on international expertise and strengths in research on vector-borne diseases.
