Clean Water
The Action Programme Committee on Clean Water, led by the PUB, was formed with the objective of formulating action programmes to achieve the SGP2012 targets for Clean Water; including community partnership and innovation relevant to clean water.
The Committee has formulated 21 action programmes under 4 main thrusts with emphasis on management of water demand and supply through innovative means and continuous education.

Increase water supply |
- Increase non-potable and potable water supply from four sources - local catchments, Johor water, desalinated water and NEWater.

Manage water demand |
- Optimise water use by industries.
- Optimise water use by households through water conservation programmes such as the Water Efficient Homes programme.

Ensure water quality |
- Work in partnership with all industries to ensure that they do not pollute the watercourses.
- Protect our water sources from pollution through regulations and water quality monitoring.

Innovation and education |
- Tap on international expertise and knowledge to keep abreast of emerging technologies that increase water supply and enhance water quality.
- Reach out to the public and impress upon them the importance of protecting and maintaining our water sources.
