THE CHALLENGE

Recycling Challenge

INCREASING RECYCLING RATE TO 70% BY 2030

The recycling rate in Singapore currently stands at about 58%, up from 40% in 2000.

However, we can do better. In 2010, only about half of the total amount of paper and cardboard waste were recycled and just 11% of plastics were recovered.

We aim to increase the recycling rate to 70% by 2030.

PROGRESS UPDATE

MORE CONVENIENT TO RECYCLE

Recycling Progress

More than 9,000 recycling bins are placed around HDB estates, shopping centres, MRT Stations and bus interchanges across the island. Most residents live no more than 150m from a recycling bin. NEA will continue to make recycling accessible to all residents.
