With 17 reservoirs and about 8,000km of drains, canals, and rivers within a space of 700km2, we already have a pervasive network of blue spaces wherever we look.
We can now look forward to the next stage, where our clean and green city morphs into a City of Gardens and Water. The Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme is part of the strategy to realise this vision. Singapore’s drains, canals and reservoirs no longer merely perform their traditional functions of drainage, flood control and water storage, but are now also beautiful streams, rivers and lakes for all to enjoy.
By bringing people closer to water, the ABC Waters Programme creates opportunities for them to enjoy and bond with water, so that they can better appreciate and cherish this precious resource.
